Outing – Qualicum Falls – RSVP Required
November 16 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
“Enjoy 6 kilometres of trails that meander through old growth-forests and alongside the river. The loop trail, accessible from the day use parking area, provides stunning lookout views of the upper and lower falls. You may also access the trails from the park campground. Leashed pets are welcome to explore with you on the trails. Dogs are not permitted in backcountry areas, beach areas, or in park buildings. For your safety and to protect the natural environment, stay on the designated trails and use caution and stay away from slippery riverbanks and cliff edges.” – Parksville Tourism Site
We will meet at the parking lot at 11:00am on Saturday, November 16th. Please make sure you got to the day-use parking lot, not the campground.
On our outing to Little Qualicum Falls we will do the lower loop to see both Lower and Upper Falls at a distance of about 1.5 kilometres. There are some slippery areas, and both down and uphill sections, but these are minor. Good footwear is recommended. For the more adventurous among us, there is a further loop beyond the upper falls that has some stunning river views – but this trail can be very muddy/partially flooded and will not be part of the official outing.
A tripod and ND filters are recommended for long exposures of the falls. And a wide angle as well as macros lens – in the past, there have been fantastic mushrooms at this location, but we are not sure the status for this year.
Please RSVP with the on-line form, so you can be sure to get notifications of any changes and to ensure the leaders know who is attending so no-one will be left behind.
