Due to the low number of members interested and the 60% chance of rain this outing has been postponed, we will look at rescheduling later this fall to get the fall colours or in the spring for the spring flowers. 

The last outing for the summer will take us to Mount Washington, near Courtney. 

George Bowron has graciously volunteered to lead this outing. We plan to start the walk at 10am.

George checked it out the other day and said it looks like the Raven Lodge is usually open for lunch although it was closed yesterday for a “special event”…so might be hit and miss. There is a pair of outhouses at the beginning and end of the walk so that will be convenient after a 1 1/2-hour drive. There is a choice of add-ons to the walk if some are particularly ambitious. It is acceptable to bring a dog along, but they are very emphatic about requiring the use of a leash.

It is a bit of a walk to the boardwalk but is good solid gravel and there is a drop off area at the trail head to reduce the walk. There is the one Parking Lot at the “trail head”, if you google Paradise Meadows Mt Washington it gives a description of the hikes available. He thought the 2 km Centennial Loop walk which is wheelchair accessible would be good. There is also a Parking lot right at the highway exit to Mt Washington from the Island Hwy where some may wish to meet before the uphill drive.  

As this is a 1 1/2-hour drive, I suggest we carpool.
