Outing – Cottle Lake / Linley Valley – RSVP Required
September 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
“Linley Valley Cottle Lake Park is a wilderness park located between Departure and Hammond Bay. The network of trails within the park will take you through various landscapes from forested trails to valleys, fields and rocky knolls. The city managed portion of the parkland includes groomed trails and maintained boardwalks.” – From the Nanaimo Parks website.
We will meet at the Burma Rd entrance at 10:00AM to explore the park together. The official outing will take the trail down around the lake. The trails are well-maintained and there have been many improvements on the far side of the lake to make it easier to walk (board walks and stairs instead of clambering over roots and rocks).
We will have forest views, lake views, and we can check out what’s left of the old car wrecks near the Rock City entrance.
The plan is to be back a Burma Rd by noon.
There are hills and stairs so good footwear is encouraged.
Although general photography in the park will not require a tripod some of the forested areas and the old cars are under a heavy canopy and a tripod will be needed.
Please RSVP via the on-line form so you can be update of any changes.
Here are some photos from over the years of visiting this spot.
