Outing – Bowen Park – Waterfall and Duck Pond
Bowen Park is in the heart of the city with a scenic waterfall, fish ladder, duck pond, meandering trails along the river and a rhododendron grove.
Our outing will take us to the Millstone River waterfall where for a chance to photograph the waterfall in full flow. This will give you a great chance to practice some long exposure photography or to just capture it in full action.
The trail from the main parking lot and the waterfall is an easy stroll so this is accessible for all members.
Once you have finished photographing the water fall you can stroll over to the duck pond to photograph the scene and the ducks that call it home.
If you are feeling energetic after the official outing, you can take a stroll along one of the many trails to explore more of the park. Although it is early in the season Bowen Park has an amazing rhododendron grove with over 350 different species and some of the early blooming species may be in bloom. You may also find some wild flowers as you stroll the trails along the Millstone River.
Meeting Place: Millstone River Waterfall
Address: 500 Bowen Rd, Nanaimo

If you are planning to get some long exposure images bring your tripod and a ND filter, especially if we are lucky enough to get a sunny day! A long lens will be helpful to get some good shots of the ducks, and a macro lens could be useful for the wildflowers.
