Arbutus Books is Nanaimo’s longest-running used bookstore. Over 30+ years of service, owner Neal Brown, has made a name for himself as one of downtown Nanaimo’s friendliest business owners. 

Neal’s always loved books. Growing up, he listened to tales of his uncle Virgil, who ran a used bookstore for many years in Philadelphia. By 1993, Neal had amassed such a large personal collection of books, he decided to open a bookstore. 

You will find lots of inspiration for our next print competition category, Literature and the shelves of books are great for shooting angles and colours. 

A tripod and macro lenses will be useful. There is limited space to shoot with the many books and shelves so be mindful of your surroundings. 

Because of the limited space this outing is limited to 6 people maximum, so please RSVP to secure your spot.
