The Photographer’s Journey – Building a Portfolio, Finding Your Voice, and Developing Style

Bio: Eric Bennett is a full-time nature photographer, author, and conservationist based in Utah, where he lives with his wife and four children. While photography has taken Eric all over the world to places like Iceland, Patagonia, and New Zealand, over the last several years he has become more focused on the American Southwest, revisiting and photographing places close to his home and heart. Eric’s photographs are the result of a deep connection he has with the natural world, and his love for wilderness, and the singular space, stillness, silence, and solitude that it provides. His hope is that through his photography, he can express the true value of wild places in their unspoiled states, so that others may gain a greater appreciation for them and a desire to fight for their protection. 

Eric has taught thousands of photographers over the years how they can find their artistic voice and refine their vision through workshops, one-on-one online instruction, and his extensive series of tutorial videos. Eric has authored two fine art photography books, “Conversations With Nature,” and “Space, Stillness, Silence,” and regularly writes articles for his own website as well as Outdoor Photographer Magazine, ELEMENTS magazine, On Landscape, and the Nature Photographers Network. He has also worked alongside many organizations in conservation efforts such as the Wilderness Society, Quiet Parks International, the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, and the Grand Staircase Escalante Partners.
