Harbourfront Library – The Creative Commons – Digital Submission – Due Date
This opportunity has been arranged for HCPC members to showcase their photography to the community. The Creative Commons area of the Harbourfront Library is on the second floor of the library that is accessible to the public. The Harbour City Photography Club has access to this area to hang 15 – 20 photographs for display and sale (if required).
However, neither the club or library will be involved in sales and those arrangements must be made privately. Members would post their work as for sale with relevant contact information.
We only have room for up to 15 – 20 images. Consequently, we will limit the number to one image/person. (However, please let me know if you are interested in exhibiting more than one and if there is space, you will be contacted).
There will also be a selection process. Please send a digital image of the print you wish to exhibit to [email protected] A committee will determine what images will be exhibited.
Due date for submitting digital images to the selection committee is BEFORE or by Friday, May 20th by 4:00 pm.
If selected images can not exceed the size of 24 inches, including frame, in width.
Each submission must include the following information: a short bio along with the artist’s name. If the image is for sale, price and an email must be included, cards will be printed with this information to be displayed with each image.
The library supplies a ladder. Therefore, if there are insufficient volunteers, our involvement in the exhibition must be cancelled. We need at least 4 people to help set up the exhibition and one person to prepare all the cards that accompany each image.
Each participant must ensure the image is prepared for hanging. The work must meet the same requirements as those images hung at the salon. Images may be mounted on foam core, metal, canvas, wood laminate, or framed. Hanging hardware must include picture wire that is fastened with “D” fasteners; eye hooks or toothed hangers are not recommended as they may damage the walls.
The HCPC will provide a multi-panelled display stand for an Environmental Journalism display. (We will use the display from the Salon.)
The waiver has been completed which removes liability from the library should work be damaged in anyway. However, this is a library and a security guard is present during opening hours.
