Club Meeting – What are we going to do about AI? with Christine Widdal
What are we going to do about AI?
Presenter: Christine (Chris) Widdal
In the first half, Chris is going to explore what AI is, how it works, what it can do.
(She is going to talk about rabbits…because she likes rabbits)
We’ll all take a look at how AI is being integrated into our software.
She is going to ask more question that she can answer and hopefully create some topics for discussion.
In the second half, she is going to explore what we are likely to be allowed to use in club photography (this may vary from country to country, though FIAP will probably lead the way).
- Whether AI can be detected and policed.
- Copyright and ownership issues.
- AI generated as an art form…including a section on her AI generated artwork, which is being kept separate from her photography.
- And where it’s going.
Presenters Bio:
Chris was brought up taking pictures and learned how to process them in the darkroom from the age of about 5 but embraced digital technology in the 1990s. Her aim is very simple – to try and capture places, people and moments in time and make them as beautiful and interesting as possible. Some of her images are “competition” pictures, others just an expression of her enjoyment of a day, an area or a subject.
She loves to capture her beautiful local area of Saddleworth, especially its hills waterways and, in recent years she has added wildlife photography to her interests. In her creative work, she tries to go beyond the objective recording of fact and to use self-expression to provide an interpretation of her subjects. She loves experimenting to see what she can achieve with blends images from different times and different places.
You can view Chris’ work (both photography & AI generated) on her website at https://christinewiddall.co.uk/
Chris is the recipient of Master Award of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, been awarded a distinction by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), the award for Meritorious Service from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain and Chris is on the Roll of Honour of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union.
