Club Meeting – Zoom – Working at the Edge of Un-Thought with Doug Chinnery
Working at the Edge of Un-Thought – Seeing What Isn’t There
During this presentation Doug will delve into the challenges of working in abstraction as photographers, both in-camera and as we process our images. His goal is to help you to make compelling abstract and impressionistic images that go beyond the ordinary and allow us to express emotion and explore the full potential of our creativity. Hopefully both Doug’s art and his practical demonstrations will be useful for you in your creative journey.
About Doug (in his own words):
“I make art quietly as best I can.
What I try to create straddles the edgelands between photography and mixed-media abstract expressionism — inspired by painters such as Hodgkin, Feiler, Rea and Ryman. My quest is for visual poetry as I attempt to reflect an emotional response to my subject rather that replication.
In this, I fail more often than I succeed, but my joy is in doing.
I have exhibited widely and my book “Abstract Mindedness” has sold out.
I am so privileged to live and work in the wild and beautiful islands of the Outer Hebrides.”
